Remarkable...

...wisdom from an in-flight magazine!

In a questionniare article leading business people are asked what was the best piece of advice they ever received.  "Never lunch alone" says one contributor....

What a useful thought for IC people...

I don't know whether they still do it, but I remember being very impressed when I read that Innocent Drinks arrange for new starters to have a different 'lunch buddy' every day for their first ten days in the company. What a great way to make some friends and start building a network.

Living out in the sticks as I do, the occasions I'm in London are jam packed in between business meetings with coffees, lunches and whatever else I can squeeze in. On the rare occasion I've got a whole day free, I have been known to fill the entire thing literally with breakfast/coffee/lunch/ afternoon tea/drinks/dinner. I must consume so many calories in one day I probably don't need to eat for the rest of the week! Needless to say, I'm a big advocate of the tip you read in the airline mag ...

Sue made me lunch alone... :-(

Sue

Oh hello, I was stuck in the comedy week of flat tyres and broken keyboards! I'm never going to live this down, am I - somebody get me a workshop in Belgium so I can put things right!

(And to the chorus of people who could potentially now join in and say 'and when are we having that coffee, then?' or 'when are you rescheduling our lunch?', I honestly DO fill all my gaps between meetings with trying to catch up with people - I'm just not in the big city that often and inevitably end up having to change plans at the last minute and then try and set things up by text message, so then it's too late and I miss out on seeing anyone at all! Oh heck. Now wishes she hadn't posted comment in first place and considers replacing next holiday with European tour of coffees, lunches and dinners ....)

And Sue cancelled on me..... :-(

Sue

I knew this would happen! At least you are in the right country Mr Darby - I will mail you!
