I wish people were more boring sometimes....
Just had an experience….
Flying to Basel on a plane surrounded by off-duty pilots I put on the iPod to drown out the chatter about duties, other colleagues and the rates paid in other airlines.
Then on our final approach we dropped below the clouds and were hit by a massive cross wind and they fell worryingly silent. As we bucked around they exchanged too many meaningful glances for my liking… Then one of them asked another “who’s the Captain today?” which elicited more worried looks.
It was one of those rare occasions when you wished they’d carry on boring about restaurants they’d visited or the engine size of their new car…..

are you still on the plane...?

Nope - but about to get back on the return leg...checking out there are no off-duty pilot types in the lounge though....
It's a bit like your doctor looking shocked when you tell him your problems or your lawyer laughing at your troubles. Sometimes you need your professionals to behave in a certain way....

I can imagine how scary that would be.Usually when there's turbulence the attendants just smile back at anyone looking worried. Must have been pretty bad, especially the "who's the pilot today?" bit?
Although, have you ruled out the idea that maybe they'd decided to have a bit of a joke with the passengers - get them back for demanding that extra G&T?

Air travel was glamorous once - remember the days when you admired people with gold cards (rather than pitying them???)
Arrived back home to Luton airport last night an hour and a half late. Then faced the mammouth queue through immigration (it seems that lots of planes arriving at an airport took the three immigration officials on duty by surprise). An hour later I was shivering in the cold waiting for the car park bus...finally in bed at 2 am (only 3 hours later than planned...)
Deep joy

My partner's dad is a pilot. Marc always calls them from the airport to say we're off on hols, at which point his dad asks who we're flying with. Upon hearing the answer, he then recounts whether the airline has had any major disasters and finishes up with "Well, you should be ok with them." I'm not looking forward to the day that immortal last sentence doesn't get uttered!

I know if I was apilt I'd be just the same though!
My sister who's a doctor is always interested in the drugs I get perscribed but she never comments. I wonder if she's trying to see what other doctors or up to or she's just holding onto the fact that clearly I've only got six months to live and my own GP hasn't said anything...
